Life Insurance, done properly.
A lump-sum policy that pays out if you pass away during the term — typically used to clear a mortgage, replace an income or leave a legacy for the family. We compare the whole UK market and place every policy in Trust (free) so the payout reaches the right people, fast.
How it works
Usually matched to your mortgage (e.g. 25 years) or until the children leave home. 5 to 40 years is standard.
Enough to clear debts, replace lost income and give the family breathing space. We'll help you work it out.
If you pass away during the term, a tax-free lump sum goes to your Trust beneficiaries — typically within weeks.

Why go through a broker, not direct.
The insurer you see on TV isn't always the cheapest, or the one most likely to pay. We're a whole-of-market broker — we quote 10+ UK insurers side by side, factor in your medical and lifestyle history, and recommend the one most likely to accept you at a fair price. No fees to you — we're paid by the insurer when a policy goes on risk.
- Whole-of-market: Aviva, Legal & General, Royal London, LV=, Zurich and more
- Expert underwriting on tricky medical history
- Free Trust set-up with every policy
- No fees — we're paid by the insurer, not you
We'll help you place your policy in Trust — for free.
A Trust is a simple legal arrangement that sits around your life insurance policy. Instead of the payout going into your estate, it's paid directly to the people you want to benefit. It's one of the single most important things most people never do — and we set it up at point of application, at no extra cost.
Why place it in Trust?
- •Faster payout. Trust claims typically settle in weeks, not months — probate can take 6 to 12 months and the family is left waiting.
- •Usually inheritance-tax free. A payout outside your estate isn't counted against the £325,000 nil-rate band, so more of it reaches your family.
- •You choose the beneficiaries. Children, partner, dependants, a charity — and you can change them later as life changes.
- •Protection from creditors and divorce. Trust assets sit outside the estate, which can protect the payout for your intended beneficiaries.
How YPS helps
- •We complete the insurer's Trust forms with you at application — no solicitor needed for a standard arrangement.
- •We explain the different types (Discretionary, Flexible, Absolute, Split) in plain English and recommend what fits your family.
- •Zero cost — all mainstream UK insurers provide the Trust paperwork for free when you take a policy through a broker.
- •We review beneficiaries if your circumstances change (marriage, children, divorce).
YPS does not provide tax or legal advice. For complex estates — business interests, trusts across multiple assets or offshore holdings — we work alongside your solicitor or STEP-qualified adviser.
Common questions
Is the payout taxed?+
If the policy is written in Trust, the payout usually sits outside your estate for Inheritance Tax purposes. If it's not in Trust and your estate exceeds £325,000, up to 40% can be lost to IHT. That's why we always offer Trust set-up at the application stage — free of charge.
What if my health changes after I take out cover?+
Once your policy is on risk, future health changes don't affect it. The premium is locked in for the full term as long as you keep paying.
Can I have joint cover with my partner?+
Yes — joint life first-death pays out once, on the first of you to pass away. Two single policies cost a bit more but give you two payouts and more flexibility.
What happens if I outlive the term?+
Nothing — the policy simply ends. If you'd like a payout whenever the time comes, you're looking at Whole of Life cover rather than Life Insurance.
